The Grand-Daddy of Orange Trees

The first navel orange tree in California… Planted by Mrs. Eliza Tibbets in 1873, any navel orange grown in California today is a descendant from this tree! It’s on the corner of Magnolia and Arlington in Riverside but if you want to eat a fruit from this particular tree you have to risk climbing a 6 foot security fence…. I’m just sayin’.   That plaque was put there in 1920.
